New Rendering Revealed For 1,045-Unit Bronx Point Complex, South Bronx

A new rendering has been released detailing a multi-use structure located in the South Bronx. The property which is currently owned by the city is one of the largest in its possession, and is situated on the Harlem River waterfront just north of the 145th Street bridge, adjacent to the Major Deegan Expressway. The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) has partnered with the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), as well as Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) in their development of the property.

Bronx Point will include an estimated 1,045 units of housing which will be delivered in two phases; the first of which will include approximately 600 units of permanent affordable public housing. Phase one has an estimated completion date of 2022.

The retail and public spaces in the complex have been designed to integrate the surrounding community and will offer up to 60,000 square feet of amenity space. Outdoor components will include an open-air performance theatre with public seating, and a public plaza along the exterior street for ready access to retail spaces. A portion of interior space is set to be devoted for The Universal Hip-Hop Museum, the nation’s first brick and mortar museum dedicated to Hip-Hop.

Developed in conjunction with the Prusik Group, the project is set to create roughly 100 permanent new jobs, as well as 915 jobs relating to its construction during phase one of the build.

The prime location of the lot will give residents expedient access to public transportation, being only four blocks away from the 149th Street-Grand Concourse subway station. The station offers service on the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 trains. Stops on the Bx13 and Bx19 bus routes are also located one block away.

This location also provides residents walking access to Hostos Community College, Lincoln Medical Center, Mill Pond Park, and the Bronx Terminal Market.
