Silvana’s sign is up!

Silvanas sign is up! Silvanas sign is up!

As I was walking home this evening, I noticed this attractive marquis on the southwest corner of 116th and Frederick Douglass Blvd.  Silvana will be a “cafe boutique” featuring Middle Eastern food, international goods, and live music. Their website is not up yet but rumor has it that this latest addition to Frederick Douglass’ restaurant row  is scheduled to open later this month.

Silvanas sign is up!

QUOTE: Russell Simmons cultural and creative

“My experiences have been, from the beginning, cultural and creative.  And my business has been a way of exposing the culture, exposing the artists so that the world could hear and see them.”

The Harlem Shake from a Business Perspective – Interesting article by Victor Luckerson

The Harlem Shake from a Business Perspective Interesting article by Victor Luckerson

Time.com

With so many videos and comments the past couple of weeks about the Harlem Shake, I was wondering if any of these videos with millions of views on Youtube are making any money?

I came across this article today by Victor Luckerson, a reporter-producer for Time.com covering business and money, who writes a clear explanation about the copyright and who is getting what from the Harlem Shake frenzy.  The exact amount is unknown at this time but will most likely take the lead over last years “Gangnam Style, viral sensation that earned Korean pop star Psy and his handlers a reported $870.000 from YouTube as revenue.”

Mainly he writes  ”Baauer and his label get some of the ad revenue, as does Youtube.  The people shooting the videos get no money because they are using copyrighted content.”

ITunes sales have sky rocketed with Baauer’s Harlem Shake single, topping the iTunes charts and recently debuted at No. 3 in the UK singles charts.

Cedric French Bistro had a small fire last night 1/8/13

Cedric French Bistro had a small fire last night 1/8/13

A friend of mine and to our blog mentioned that he saw a fire truck in front of Cedric last night.  I know they were planning on filming an episode of Black Ink Crew (the new reality show on VH1) last night so we thought maybe this was all part of it.  But unfortunately, it was in fact a fire.  Their Christmas tree caught on fire and damaged a small section of the bar and ceiling area.  Thankfully nobody was hurt not any of the staff or the upstairs neighbors.

They are working hard to get everything up and running again in a few days.  We here at HarlemCondoLife hope to see business resume quickly for Cedric and the whole crew!
