{"id":13322,"date":"2010-02-22T00:57:54","date_gmt":"2010-02-22T05:57:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/?p=4117"},"modified":"2010-02-22T00:57:54","modified_gmt":"2010-02-22T05:57:54","slug":"womens-jazz-festival-at-the-schomburg-in-march-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/?p=13322","title":{"rendered":"Women&#039;s Jazz Festival at the Schomburg in March"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By NativeNewYorker<a href=\"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/schomburg_facade_.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-4118\" title=\"schomburg_facade_\" src=\"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/schomburg_facade_.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"190\" height=\"127\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have seen many terrific exhibits at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nypl.org\/locations\/schomburg\" target=\"_blank\">Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture <\/a>and even attended an occasional lecture or film but I don\u2019t usually think of it as a destination for music. \u00a0I guess that will have to change.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/sch_prog2_0.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4126\" title=\"sch_prog2_0\" src=\"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/sch_prog2_0.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"125\" height=\"95\" \/><\/a>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nypl.org\/locations\/tid\/64\/calendar\" target=\"_blank\">Women\u2019s Jazz Festival <\/a>is a series of concerts featuring talented female artists to celebrate Women\u2019s History Month. \u00a0I am particularly looking forward to the March 8<sup>th<\/sup> program\u00a0entitled:\u00a0 <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nypl.org\/node\/66176\" target=\"_blank\">Four Women: A Tribute to Miriam Makeba, Abbey Lincoln, Eartha Kitt, and Odetta<\/a>,<\/strong> performed by\u00a0the Black Rock Coalition Orchestra (BRCO).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4119\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4119\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/black-rock-coalition-orchestra.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4119\" src=\"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/black-rock-coalition-orchestra.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"209\" srcset=\"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/black-rock-coalition-orchestra.jpg 650w, http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/black-rock-coalition-orchestra-300x125.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4119\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Black Rock Coalition Orchestra<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The BRCO is a collaboration of skilled, progressive artists of color who specialize in the musical reinterpretation of historically significant bodies of work.
