I was surprised to learn that April is \u201cChild Abuse Prevention Month<\/a>\u201d; how sad that we need to have such a month!\u00a0 Still, the purpose is a worthy one – to raise public awareness and provide education to end\u00a0child abuse.\u00a0 As part of \u201cChild Abuse Month\u201d there will be a reading of Yvette Heyliger\u2019s play, Father’s Day<\/em>, at the 115th<\/sup> Street Library<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>on Saturday, April 24th at 2pm.\u00a0 I saw a reading of this play a few years ago \u2013 it is not light entertainment.\u00a0 \"\"<\/a>But it is a powerful look at one family\u2019s tragedy.\u00a0 Following the reading, there will be a discussion with the playwright, Yvette Heyliger, and a counselor from the St. Lukes-Roosevelt Crime Victims Treatment Center.<\/p>\n

Yvette Heyliger<\/a> is a playwright, director, and producing artist who lives and writes here in Harlem.\u00a0 Her other works include: What Would Jesus\u00a0Do?<\/a><\/em> (a powerful intergenerational play about HIV\/AIDS in the<\/p>\n

Yvette Heyliger and her twin sister, Yvonne Farrow<\/a>, are the founders of TWINBIZ<\/a>, a production company that creates and produces original projects for stage, television and film which educate, entertain and serve.\u00a0\u00a0 The reading of \u201cFather\u2019s Day\u201d is free, open to the public, and wheelchair accessible:<\/p>\n
