L\u2019ouveture de Harlem\u2019s Cedric\u2019s Restaurant \u00e9tait une nuit \u00e0 se rappeler (an unforgetable evening). \u00a0Cedric<\/strong> opens with a bang! \u00a0The who’s who of Harlem popped in Monday evening to welcome Harlem’s \u00a0newest addition. \u00a0The crowd included local residents and business owners, curious visitors from other parts of the city, and celebrities including Chris Noth of Law & Order, Mr. Big of Sex and the City.<\/span><\/p>\n

The friendly General Manager Dard Coaxum<\/strong> and the attentive staff were all doing their best to maneuver the crowds. \u00a0I was with two friends and we all had a great experience. \u00a0I first wrote about Cedric’s for HarlemCondoLife<\/a><\/strong> back in June, Cedric Harlem<\/a>, and I am impressed with their finished product.<\/p>\n

We spoke with Cedric and we asked what brought him to Harlem. \u00a0He expressed his passion for Harlem and its people and that he wanted to open something in the neighborhood where he lives.<\/p>\n

In terms of the food the portions were substantial and the dishes magnifique. \u00a0I had the Fois Gras <\/strong>appetizer and the Grilled Salmon<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 which comes with Ratatouille<\/strong> (I requested a substitution for mashed potatoes which was gladly met) and it was perfectly cooked and a generous serving. \u00a0I recommend it and would have it again. \u00a0My friend had the Foie Gras Ravioli<\/strong> and the Pan Seared Duck Breast with Cherry Sauce and Gratin Dauphinois<\/strong>. \u00a0Absolutely delicious. \u00a0\u00a0My second friend enjoyed the Red Beet Salad with Goat Cheese<\/strong> and the Sauteed Seabass with White Rice and Provencale Sauce<\/strong>. \u00a0 Popular dishes at the surrounding tables were the Fish and Chips<\/strong> and also the Mussels<\/strong> which smelled incredible. \u00a0 Cedric has a variety of five choices for those of you who enjoy Mussels. \u00a0 You can have them prepared with white wine and shallots, Tomato and Garlic, Old Fashioned Mustard and Cream or Ginger Lemon Grass.<\/p>\n

I loved the service and the attentiveness of Cedric<\/strong>, his business partner Fabian<\/strong>, the manager and our lovely waitress. This kind of service coupled with perfect food will go a long way to ensuring success.<\/p>\n

My only suggestion is that they start taking reservations. \u00a0They will definitely need to for the future as I predict demand for seats will exceed supply. The space is not huge, I believe around 40 tables, but feels big with the tall ceilings and the tasteful decor. \u00a0\"\"<\/a> Many successful restaurants in Harlem and Manhattan are about this size. \u00a0People will wait and make reservations. \u00a0A great example is Melba’s. \u00a0It is always crowded and has stood the test of time.<\/p>\n

The music was fantastic. \u00a0Stevie Wonder played continuously through our dinner. \u00a0The bar was full and I enjoyed catching up with friends and meeting some great new people. \u00a0It was a full house by 7PM and lines of people waiting outside.<\/p>\n

It was only the first night, but if atmosphere and crowd satisfaction prevails, Cedric will be a success. \u00a0Congratulations and bon appetit Harlem.<\/p>\n
