Lee & Low<\/a>\u00a0is a children\u2019s book publisher<\/a> focussed on bringing diverse voices to the forefront and promoting related conversations.<\/p>\n

They produced this info graphic of the Academy’s track record on honoring the work of minorities. \u00a0The backdrop to this includes\u00a0an investigation<\/a>\u00a0by The Los Angeles Times<\/a> in 2012. \u00a0The Times<\/a> found that\u00a0<\/span>the majority of Academy members are older white men, and of the 85 best actress awards, just one went to a person of color<\/a>, Halle Berry<\/a> in 2002.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Academy\u2019s new president is Cheryl Boone Isaacs, the first African-American<\/a> to do so. \u00a0 She and its chief executive\u00a0<\/span>Dawn Hudson<\/a>\u00a0are\u00a0taking steps to increase diversity, which includes a\u00a0<\/span>diverse roster of faces<\/a>\u00a0for the March 2 show.<\/span><\/p>\n
