{"id":27621,"date":"2014-04-26T11:41:36","date_gmt":"2014-04-26T15:41:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/?p=27621"},"modified":"2014-04-26T17:53:40","modified_gmt":"2014-04-26T21:53:40","slug":"harlem-new-york-city-17-syllables","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/?p=27621","title":{"rendered":"Submit your Harlem Haiku &#8211; Harlem in 17 Syllables #harlemhaiku"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/images.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-27623\" alt=\"haiku poetry\" src=\"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/images-300x124.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"124\" srcset=\"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/images-300x124.jpg 300w, http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/images-100x41.jpg 100w, http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/images.jpg 348w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For<a href=\"http:\/\/www.poets.org\/page.php\/prmID\/47#1\" target=\"_blank\"> National Poetry Month<\/a>, The New York Times asked readers to write <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wikihow.com\/Write-a-Haiku-Poem\" target=\"_blank\">haiku <\/a>about the city.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Haiku (\u4ff3\u53e5\u00a0<i>high-koo<\/i>)\u00a0are\u00a0short poems consisting of three lines of five, seven and five syllables. \u00a0 More specifically:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Only three lines.<br \/>\n\u2022 First line must be five syllables.<br \/>\n\u2022 Second line must be seven syllables.<br \/>\n\u2022 The third line must be five syllables.<br \/>\n\u2022 Punctuation and capitalization are up to you.<br \/>\n\u2022 It doesn\u2019t have to rhyme.<br \/>\n\u2022 It must be original.<\/p>\n<p>They\u00a0use sensory language to capture a feeling or image. They are often inspired by an element of nature, a moment of beauty or a poignant experience.
