HARLEM — Lifelong residents of the Mount Morris Park Historic District will be on hand to offer insights about the neighborhood during its annual house tour next month.<\/p>\n

The celebrated Mount Morris Park tour, now in its 27th year, is themed “Living Legacy” and will enlist the district’s oldest residents to give an oral history of the neighborhood — including its century-old brownstones, local preservation efforts and residents’ own experiences.<\/p>\n

The tour is scheduled for Sunday, June 11.<\/p>\n

“As Harlem continues to see exceptional growth and development in home ownership, diversity and commerce, we are thrilled to present the homes and stories of one of Harlem’s most coveted and historic neighborhoods,” said Syderia Asberry-Chresfield, president of the Mount Morris Park Community Improvement Association<\/a>, which runs the tour. <\/p>\n

“This tour allows us to share the special and unique details of our neighborhood and to help further preserve it for many more generations to come.”<\/p>\n

Participants will go on a self-guided tour of 10 historic Harlem homes, and then meet lifelong residents who will provide a more intimate look into the buildings.<\/p>\n

The historic district runs from 119th to 124th streets, from Lenox Avenue to Marcus Garvey Park. <\/p>\n

The Mount Morris Park Tour will be held on Sunday, June 11, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are currently available<\/a> for sale. For members of The Mount Morris <\/em>Park<\/em> Community Improvement Association tickets are $20. For non-members, tickets are $35 in advance and $50 on the day of the event.
