waffles\" src=\"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/londel-chick-waffles.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"119\" srcset=\"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/londel-chick-waffles.gif 525w, http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/londel-chick-waffles-300x71.gif 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>By <a href=\"http:\/\/en.search.wordpress.com\/?q=NativeNewYorker\" target=\"_blank\">NativeNewYorker<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I had dinner at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.londelsrestaurant.com\/home.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Londel\u2019s<\/a> last Friday to celebrate my cousin\u2019s birthday. \u00a0I hadn\u2019t been there in quite a while and I am sorry I waited so long. \u00a0In his most recent expansion, Londel added a very attractive bar and a sidewalk cafe.\u00a0 I arrived a little late but my cousin had run into a couple of friends at the bar and was already enjoying herself.\u00a0 We waited there until her two goddaughters arrived and then we chose an inside table. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/londel-chef.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7543\" title=\"Londel Chef\" src=\"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/londel-chef.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"215\" srcset=\"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/londel-chef.gif 480w, http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/londel-chef-300x134.gif 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The food is still terrific and our waiter was warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. \u00a0Londel\u2019s serves a mix of \u201ccontinental, cajun and southern cuisine\u201d and, since everything is prepared to order by Chef Kenny Heatley, they can accommodate individual preferences and health conscious choices.\u00a0 I had the smothered pork chops with yellow rice (okay, not the most health conscious choice but it was a special occasion); my cousin had the barbecued ribs with Londel\u2019s famous macaroni &amp; cheese, after the crab cake appetizer. \u00a0One goddaughter had the fried pork chops and the other ordered the seafood special, both with the mac &amp; cheese, of course. \u00a0We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the first set of the Brandon Sanders Quartet, who played an interesting mix of jazz and classic rhythm &amp; blues. \u00a0<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_7546\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7546\" style=\"width: 220px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/londel-davis.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7546\" title=\"Londel Davis\" src=\"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/londel-davis.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"190\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-7546\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Londel Davis, Owner<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Londel\u2019s has come a long way since its owner, Londel Davis, (who grew up in Harlem) converted a portion of his neighborhood barber shop into a restaurant in the early 1990\u2019s.\u00a0 His clientele includes celebs and political notables, as well as many faithful Harlemites and other New Yorkers.\u00a0 Check out their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.londelsrestaurant.com\/sections\/gallery.htm\" target=\"_blank\">photo gallery <\/a>to see who has been there recently.\u00a0 Londel\u2019s is on the 8<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue (now known as Frederick Douglass Boulevard) end of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nyc-architecture.com\/HAR\/HAR013.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Striver\u2019s Row<\/a>, one of Harlem\u2019s historic blocks. \u00a0It is a great place to have a drink or a meal and it is a favorite for Sunday brunch.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/londel-exterior.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7547\" title=\"Londel exterior\" src=\"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/londel-exterior.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"249\" srcset=\"http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/londel-exterior.gif 520w, http:\/\/harlemcondolife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/londel-exterior-300x149.gif 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Londel\u2019s Supper Club<\/em><\/p>\n<p>2620 Frederick Douglass Boulevard\u00a0 (between 139<sup>th<\/sup> &amp;
