This past week my fellow blogger, NativeNewYorker, told you about the Harlem Harvest Festival and Fresh Food Summit taking place on October 9. Did you check it out? We did and enjoyed the event very much! The vegetable and pumpkin stands were hit – in my view. And Harlem Park to Park and Harlem 4 Center for Change did an outstanding job putting this event together. A big thank you to them for organizing the Harlem Harvest Festival. We look forward to attending next Fall!

Harlem suffers from a paucity of choices for fresh foods and vegetables and an abundance of fast food options – a combination sometimes referred to as a “food desert.”  The Harlem4 Center for Change, a community-based not-for-profit organization, is spearheading a coalition of groups in a “Food Movement” to address this issue.  Join them this Saturday, October 9th, for THE HARLEM HARVEST FESTIVAL FRESH FOOD SUMMIT.   Events occur at a variety of locations in the Frederick Douglass-Adam Clayton Powell corridor between 115th and 118th.  For more information and to register, check out the H4 website.

A beautiful white blanket of snow hit yesterday, and although New York turns into slush soup way too fast, it is gorgeous and dramatic for a little while.

I was walking toward the 2/3 subway line along Central Park North recently and saw that the corner building on Central Park North and Adam Clayton Powell had brand new windows installed and what also appeared to be new air conditioning units.  There is scaffolding around and ton of permits on the door. Those are clear signs of a makeover and the building looks vacant! Does anyone know the scoop?

For those that don’t know this Harlem area or do, this spot is absolutely a primo location-in my view. It’s a well-sized corner building right across the street from our famous Central Park. The building has to have some decent park views. Well…whatever is going on there, HarlemGal wishes she had a small fortune, some extra dinero, etc. I would totally go shopping there for another Harlem casita! If you know what’s going on, tell us!
