There are a lot of celebrations happening this weekend in Harlem for Gay Pride. After a momentous and triumphant week for the LGBT community, people are really ready to celebrate gay pride.
A few places in Harlem where you can celebrate are at Aloft Harlem Hotel on FDB Friday, June 28th 7 pm – 11 pm. Red Rooster (Ginny’s Supper Club) on Lenox Ave, Sunday June 30th starting at 8 pm. MIST (My Image Studios) on 116th Street Friday, June 28th 8 pm & Saturday, June 29th 9 pm. How hot is Harlem?
One indication is the number of times it has been featured on Selling New York, one of the best shows on real estate, in our opinion.
Harlem has been featured on three episodes recently: west, central and east. The neighborhood looks great, and the units are spectacular. Two weeks ago they featured the Apex Condominiums which are located above the Aloft Hotel on West 124th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard. The client was so impressed with the neighborhood and the condo that he ended up purchasing an additional unit in the same building. Last weeks episode included an old church that had been beautifully renovated into a living loft on East 112th Street and 2nd Avenue. The broker stated that East Harlem is an up and coming neighborhood attracting a lot of Downtowners. For the Grand Opening and viewing of this property they hired a DJ and The Harlem Gospel Choir performed.
Check it out for yourself, on HGTV. You can find “Selling New York” on Thursdays at 9:30PM on HGTV channel 64.

This Saturday, Id like to take folks along on a soulful expedition featuring the sounds of two of my favorite female artists, the late Amy Winehouse and the Queen, Mrs. Mary J. Blige.
Amy Winehouse is one of my favorite present day artists. I dig on Amy not only for her nostalgic ballads, not only for her bravado, but musically, this sistah has the chops of giants. Amy’s style ranks with some of biggest and brightest legends, and in recognition of her dope songs, I’ll be paying tribute with a lil Amy in my set. I know you’re gonna dig this. ((No bandwagon))
I’ll also be rocking joints from another one of my all time favorites, the Queen, Miss M.J.B. Mary’s so bad, when you throw on one of her songs; you either start dancing or singing, including tough guys. Expect to hear the jams we all know and love.
Join Us and tell a friend!

If you’re not on Flipboard, Taptu or Pulse on your Ipad, get there soon. I am finding a load of information about Harlem on these app tools, such as Gadling, which has a profile of Harlem up on their site. Gadling is an AOL travel blog.
In their profile on Harlem, they list different things to do than The Boston Globe or The Financial Times. They tell their readers to check out places in Harlem, such as the Jazz Museum, Hip Hop Culture Center, Patsy’s in Spanish Harlem, WYZ Bar at the Aloft Hotel and more.
