thai market

One of our favorite restaurants is Thai Market.  They are adjacent to Harlem and deliver into Harlem.  They are reliable, courteous, quick, well priced, and the food is always great, always consistent in taste, quality and quantity.   I realized just how much I like them (and just how bad the conditions are in Harlem tonight) when I called and they told me they could not deliver to my area (which includes Restaurant Row) because it is too slippery.  Which I totally understand.

If you have not tried this place, please do.  It’s great.

What other cuisines would you like to see in Harlem?

My husband, daughter and I stopped by recently when we were looking for a place to eat. We saw Koko Wings on 106th off Broadway and looked at the menu. We gave it a shot and enjoyed it.

Koko Wings is about 1 month old and they have

boneless

great Korean wings. They are delicious and come in Hot and Spicy, Garlic  flavored or a combination. I had the hot and spicy wings, my husband had the boneless. I ordered the sweet potato fries and they were served with a honey mustard dip which I enjoyed. It comes with a side so I had the cole slaw which was delicious too.

We can’t wait to got back or order in!

Harlem Restaurant Row Goes Mobile

HarlemCondoLife is happy to see that “Harlem Restaurant Row” (the phrase, the concept, the place) is  maintstream, as friend to our publication Michael Feeney reinforces in his latest piece in the Daily News.

After several delays earlier this year, food trucks arrived on Frederick Douglass Boulevard.  It was a huge success.  Which translates into more trucks coming soon – starting May 10th.

We love a good food truck.  Our one hope is that Harlem businesses will broaden their brand and their reach by setting up and/or bringing their own food trucks to the party.  See our previous post Harlem Food Truck Rally.

Welcome one.  Welcome all.  Welcome food trucks to Harlem Restaurant Row.      See the full NY Daily News article below.

Jack Dorsey (co-founder and co-creator of Twitter and founder and CEO of Square, a mobile payments company), connects with entrepreneurs with businesses based in Harlem, in this fascinating interview.

Featured businesses include Harlem Skin Clinic and Astor Row Cafe.

This interview follows Dorsey’s recent appearance at the Apollo, courtesy of Square’s “Let’s Talk” series, which we first posted about on December 13th 2013.

Says Dorsey about Harlem:  “There’s an electricity in the air.  It’s one of the reasons we chose Harlem for this event.”

By HarlemGuy.
Google recently unveiled a beta version of a new tool called Google Offers (beta). The service is likely to challenge former upstarts / current incumbents LivingSocial, Groupon, etc.

I checked it out today for deals in Harlem. The best Google can do at the moment is search for “NYC Uptown” deals and sadly there are no available deals at the moment.

I look forward to what google can bring with this new offering. It would be great to see a service of this nature that offers a rich and frequent array of offerings from local community merchants.

Give it a test drive today and let Google know how they can better serve the Harlem community.

More About Google Offers (courtesy of Google)

Google Offers has been in beta testing for residents of Portland, OR for a while now. Google Offers will be tightly integrated into Google Wallet. You’ll be able to look for Google Offers from Google Search, Maps, Latitude, Shopper, and Google Offers itself. Once you find an offer that you’re interested in, just save it and it’ll automatically appear on your Google Wallet Android app. Once it’s time to pay, Google Wallet will automatically calculate the discounted price and pay with just one single tap. Putting an end to the hassle of finding coupons on a magazine, saving them, cutting them, and then finally showing it to the cashier. Finally, the whole service it’s wrapped up with a whole lot of security features. First, there’s the Google Wallet PIN, which you’ll need to enter every time you fire off the Google Wallet app. On top of that, Google has worked with OEMs to develop a special chip inside smartphones called the Secure Element. The chip protects all the data that’s stored inside Google Wallet.
