Baraderes Haiti Benefit Tonight

On October 3, 2016, a category five hurricane by the name of Matthew swept through the southwestern part of Haiti leaving behind massive destruction and casualties. About 1.4 million people are in need of immediate assistance. We want to do our part in the relief efforts, by focusing on a region of Haiti very dear to us. We have ask some of our friends in the New York City community to assist us with this effort.
Please join us in support of Baraderes, Haiti. Donation: $20 in advance ($25 at the door)

“Believe in a Black Girl” to Launch March 17

Believe in a Black Girl is a tremendous movement that recognizes and uplifts black girls. This is an incredibly exciting movement is sponsored by Black Women for Black Girls.  Please see details below.

WHAT:
Believe in a Black Girl℠ Campaign Launch Event – The Believe in a Black Girl℠ campaign will engage the public in an effort to reduce the distinct challenges faced by black girls by providing empowering messages and actions to encourage and uplift black girls. The campaign will run during March and May and it will launch with an inspiring and informative networking reception to be held at Harlem Hospital Center’s Mural Pavilion on Thursday, March 17 from 6 pm- 8 pm.

The launch event will provide Black women and girls an opportunity to network, create empowering videos and messages, and be informed and inspired by a number of the city’s thought leaders and activists. That evening, BW4BG will present the 2016 Believe in a Black Girl Rising Star Award to the 5th grader from Queens, Egypt “Ify” Ufele, anti-bullying activist and the only kid designer that dressed curvy models during Fashion Week. Additionally, NBC News Correspondent, Morgan K. Radford, will moderate a conversation on the state of black girls.

Harlem Pride 2013 in New York City this Weekend

There are a lot of celebrations happening this weekend in Harlem for Gay Pride.  After a momentous and triumphant week for the LGBT community, people are really ready to celebrate gay pride.

A few places in Harlem where you can celebrate are at Aloft Harlem Hotel on FDB Friday, June 28th 7 pm – 11 pm.  Red Rooster (Ginny’s Supper Club) on Lenox Ave, Sunday June 30th starting at 8 pm.  MIST (My Image Studios) on 116th Street Friday, June 28th 8 pm & Saturday, June 29th 9 pm.  Jackie Robinson Park “Harlem Pride 2013 Celebration Day” from 12 pm – 6 pm featuring DJ Andre Collins and a long list of Live Performances.  Many other businesses are participating such as Harlem Food Bar, Jado Sushi, 5 and Diamond, Lido and Melba’s who have always been supportive in past years.

Make Music NY – Friday June 21 at Harlem Food Bar!

Make Music New York!  Over 1,000 free outdoor concerts and music across the city on the first day of summer Friday, June 21, 2013.  Harlem Food Bar as well as many other businesses up and down FDB and around Harlem, will be participating in this event.  Harlem Food Bar will have a live DJ at 5:00pm – 9:00pm.  DJ Damon Alston will be spinning house, funk, R&B and soul.

So stop by Harlem Food Bar Friday night for great music, food & drinks and help celebrate the first day of summer, the longest day of the year, with DJ Damon Alston.  See you there!
