Broiled Giant Spicy Prawns, Yam Flapjack, Piri Piri Sauce.
The highly anticipated Cecil opens today with a frenzy of social media flying in as fast as they possibly can just to experience what all the buzz is about. We here at Harlem Condo Life are among the enthusiastic media, and look forward to our first time experience with Cecil. We have high hopes for this old meets new establishment and newest addition to Harlem Restaurant Row. They have our attention with small plates such as “Broiled Giant Spicy Prawns, Yam Flapjack, with Piri Piri Sauce” (above ) and “Spicy Crispy Ginger Squid with Okra and Sweet Chili Peanut Sauce.” Or a shared bowl for two of Afro / Asian / American Gumbo (Smoked Turkey, Chinese Chicken Sausage, Gulf Shrimp, and Crabmeat)
Take a peek at Cecil’s menu (below) with a scrumptious assortment by – Chefs Alexander Smalls – Restauranteur, and Joseph “JJ” Johnson – Chef de Cuisine.
The Cecil MENU. Here is a photo they sent us of their sticky buns. I don’t know about dinner, but I am ready for these sticky buns right now! They also were recently written up in the Huffington Post, The Hollywood Reporter and The Wall Street Journal. Both The Cecil and Minton’s were mentioned in Huff Post BLACK VOICES and one dish in particular that stood out to us was the “Black Benne Seed Ahi Tuna.” Looks delicious.

So let’s get our forks and knives ready, and go experience the new CECIL together. I’m up for the adventure and ready to dig in. See you all there!

There is going to be another wine and dinner pairing at Lido this coming Tuesday, September 24th at 7:30 pm. Customers and clients have been loving these special events that Lido have been hosting lately. We wanted to let our readers know here at HCL about this event and to help get the word out for those wine lovers and foodies who may not be aware of Lido’s wine and dinner gatherings.
Tuesday, September 24th from 7:30-9:30 pm, Lido will be offering a five course wine tasting dinner. Wine educator and sommelier, Andrea Wobensmith will take guests through the wines and help them learn more about pairing tips, grapes, differences in growing practices and more, all in an intimate and relaxed setting. Wobensmith has been teaching wine classes for over 7 years. Her passion began after visiting Italy and tasting wines throughout the countryside. Wobensmith earned her Sommelier Certificate with the Sommelier Society of America. The price is $105 per person plus tax and gratuity. Please call for reservations at: #646-490-8575 or #917-733-9413, as space will be limited.

Walking through the neighborhood the other day on my way to work I noticed a local Harlem Cafe featuring African fare is closed. Located at 2115 Frederick Douglass Blvd.,”Cafe 2115″ tucked in-between Maharaja Palace and the Laundromat has always been brightly lit with a flow of customers. I’ve only eaten their a few times in the couple plus years they have been opened. Here is a link to the not-so-positive Yelp reviews. I dialed the telephone number and it is disconnected. Papers are now up on the windows and work is in progress…
Harlem Resident and CNN Anchor Don Lemon enjoyed an evening out the other night with friends at Cedric’s on Harlem Restaurant Row. As Don has mentioned on his show, the popular prime-time weekend edition of CNN Newsroom, he lives in Harlem and enjoys living here very much. We here at Harlem Condo Life can understand why and believe Harlem to be one of the best neighborhood communities in New York and the surrounding Boroughs. Thanks Don Lemon for following us on twitter @HarlemHCLand we wish you continued success on CNN. Keep up the great work!
Monday through Sunday just pick a night for freshly prepared food (MENU- a word from the chef) and a popular bar scene. For those of us living here in Harlem we already know Harlem Food Bar has become quite the trendy spot. I have to say whether I go there on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or on a weekend night, I always meet new and interesting people. It draws a wide spectrum of Harlem’s crowd in a comfortable setting. Like the fact that last night a customer stopped in for dinner and beer on the way home to 149th street, and a couple having drinks at the bar were from Third Avenue in East Harlem. It is a very friendly environment for a quick bite or long evening of drinks and dinner. Don’t be surprised if you see a celebrity having a casual dinner or a film crew filming at this Harlem hot spot.

Spring, Summer and Fall you can always look forward to the outside dining which Harlem Food Bar and across the street neighbor Bier International have set up nicely.
NOTE: Customers can now call ahead for Pick-up Orders. Call 212-222-9570 to place your order. If you haven’t tried their turkey or veggie burger I highly recommend it. Best turkey burger in Harlem.
Sundae Sermon is back this coming Sunday August 26th at 2 – 7pm. We are very happy to hear that it will be held in Morningside Park at it’s usual location. This Sunday will feature DJ MKL, DJ Tommy Bones, DJ Des Uno alongside DJ Stormin’ Norman. Located on Morningside Drive (upper level) and 114th Street Harlem, New York. Just look for the large crowd listening and dancing to great soulful house, classics and afroBeats… you’ll find it.
Bring a picnic basket and your family your friends or come by yourself, this event is for everyone. Last Sundae Sermon in July was very crowded and I assume this one will be to, so if you want to set up a spot on the lawn come early.

Hope to see you all there. A big shout out to Stormin’ Norman and his ongoing efforts to make this #1 family afternoon party happen for our Harlem community. Let’s all go celebrate!
