The owners of MODsquad Cycles are looking for an experienced mechanic.  I can recommend this shop personally as I have been going to them for bike repairs and blogging about them since they opened.  It’s a great  shop, good service and friendly staff located on Frederick Douglass Boulevard between 114th and 115th Street.

If you are an experienced mechanic or know someone who is that is looking for a job or a new job opportunity, send an email to info@modsquadcycles.com.

My favorite boulevard has been featured – once again – bright and big!  This time in The New York Daily News.  The article talks about all the “chic boutiques, restaurants and cocktail lounges the have cropped up on Frederick Douglass Boulevard above 110th St” in the last few years. It mentions Frederick Douglass Circle, MODSquad, bier international, 67 Orange, Patisserie des Ambassades and more.  The article even takes a page right out of HarlemGuy’s word playbook by stating “realtors call this bustling stretch of Eighth Avenue Harlem’s Gold Coast.” As with the other positive articles about Harlem, such as in The New York Times or The Wall Street Journal, I love this clip right up there with others!

If your’e anything like me you love to  cycle.    Now’s a great time to get in touch with an important resource.  The Department of Transportation’s web site.

I includes any and everything you need.  Including street scene live cams (Harlem based cams), maps, parking resources, even applications to request that commercial building owners let you park your bike on site!  Check this and more out at their site.

Also remember that once a Summer NYC gives out free helmets – I got mine last year!  Looks stylish and offers great protection too.

Also perhaps most importantly, don’t forget that if you happen to be biking in Harlem please stop by the bikeshop Modsquad.

I went by MODSquad for the Grand Opening this past weekend to check it out…and let me tell you the place is very nice inside! And the owners, who are Harlemites, are super cool!  Here’s the lowdown on some of the features they will be offering after they reopen early next year:  co-op hours use of their  shop as your garage, bike repair classes in January, bike fittings, and bike rentals in the Spring.  And my favorite, the bike bar – pictured below – where you can talk directly one-on-one with their bike experts. Go see for yourself!

As reported on HarlemCondoLife.com, a new (or relocated) bike shop has arrived on FDB between 114th and 115th St. Their sign is up and it looks sharp!  I am sure their web site will soon follow, click here!
