La Bodega 47 Social Club is having their soft opening tonight Tuesday, February 11th, at 5 pm.  It is open to the public – with limited menu and cocktails for the next two weeks as they settle in.

This location was previously the popular Native a neighborhood favorite which owner Brian Washington-Palmer decided to revamp into more of cocktail lounge. (see Jeff C Mays recent post on La Bodega for DNAinfo New York).  La Bodega 47 Social Club will have a special menu of cocktails using 47 rums from all over the world.  The “Harlem Roundhouse Punch” cocktail made with Due-North rum will be one of many selections to choose from.  Who doesn’t like a good rum drink!  Not a lot of info yet on the appetizers other than they are Latin-themed: “lobster corn dogs with spicy mustard and Portuguese fat rice, short rib chili nachos and heirloom tomato soup with grilled cheese croutons to name a few.

Stop in and check it out!

Much of Central Harlem‘s new restaurant excitement spotlights Frederick Douglass Boulevard, but beautiful and historic Lenox Avenue has also become quite a culinary epicenter.  And this Tuesday night, eight restaurants on Harlem’s Lenox Avenue will prove that as they serve up local cuisine as part of the “Summer Sizzles On Lenox,” a block party-style event .

“We’ve got some of the widest sidewalks in the city, we’ve got gorgeous architecture, we have a thriving commercial corridor now. It really has become a place to see and be seen,” said Nikoa Evans-Hendricks, an organizer from the group Harlem Park To Park.

Come out and sample the food, drinks, music and hospitality of the other restaurant row. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Sylvia and Herbert Woods Scholarship Endowment Foundation, which is named after the founder of Sylvia’s and her husband.

The event kicks off at 6 p.m. Tuesday. To pre-order tickets, visit summersizzles.eventbrite.com, or buy them the night of the event for $10 at Federal Carver Bank at 75 West 125th Street or Native Restaurant at 161 Lenox Avenue. Bon appetite!
