Harlem more and more is becoming a destination for film and TV. From “Selling New York“, “Black Ink Crew“, to “Elementary” just to name a few of the more recent shows that have filmed here in Harlem.
Now we can add to the list “Million Dollar Listing” where a crew was spotted filming last week in the neighborhood. We received an email with a couple of photos from a reader and fan of Harlem, informing us that last Thursday while walking around he came across the filming of Million Dollar Listing which airs on Bravo.
Here is a photo from the filming. Our source tells us “Luis Ortiz is the VP of Keller Williams and also Million Dollar Listing’s new hit star.”
We are not certain who the other gentleman in the photo is but our source is pretty sure he is Robb Pair, President of Harlem Lofts and MANAR.
We look forward to watching this episode when it airs on Bravo this season.

With so many videos and comments the past couple of weeks about the Harlem Shake, I was wondering if any of these videos with millions of views on Youtube are making any money?
I came across this article today by Victor Luckerson, a reporter-producer for Time.com covering business and money, who writes a clear explanation about the copyright and who is getting what from the Harlem Shake frenzy. The exact amount is unknown at this time but will most likely take the lead over last years “Gangnam Style, viral sensation that earned Korean pop star Psy and his handlers a reported $870.000 from YouTube as revenue.”
Mainly he writes “Baauer and his label get some of the ad revenue, as does Youtube. The people shooting the videos get no money because they are using copyrighted content.”
ITunes sales have sky rocketed with Baauer’s Harlem Shake single, topping the iTunes charts and recently debuted at No. 3 in the UK singles charts.

Harlem born and raised rapper/actor John O responds in his own blunt words to the new ‘Harlem Shake’ viral craze. Keeping it real he says “The song sucks, the video sucks and as a person from Harlem I’m a little bit offended by this because people from all around the world think that’s how you do the Harlem Shake, and it’s not.”
I disagree with him on the song I think Baauer’s track is a good electronic, dubstep track that definitely got peoples attention. I also think some of the ‘Harlem Shake 2013’ videos out there are funny (See our previous post – Harlem Shake Tutorial.)
Every day there are more videos popping up on YouTube from all around the globe. There have been a lot of people reacting in Harlem lately as you may have seen in this video Harlem Reacts to ‘Harlem Shake’ Videos where a variety of Harlem locals are interviewed on 125th Street. This video was made by Chris McGuire and went out to all the bloggers and NY media 2 days ago and already has 2,473,925 views and counting.
That being said, John says what most of us and probably everybody in Harlem are thinking in his video response to the Harlem Shake.
