By HarlemGuy

In the last few months a great deal of progress has been made erecting the additional floors and completing the joining of two buildings that when complete will represent the vision that is the Gateway Condominium on Frederick Douglass Boulevard in Harlem.

Below are a few pictures illustrating the progress being made.

HARLEM WEEK 2009: "Historic Celebrations"

By NativeNewYorker

August in NYC means HARLEM WEEK, a unique celebration of the history, culture and creativity of the Harlem community. This year marks the 35th anniversary of HARLEM WEEK which started as a one day celebration in 1974 and has grown to a month long extravaganza that showcases Harlem’s past, present and future.

The official kick-off was last Sunday at Grant’s Tomb: “A Great Day in Harlem” featured dance, theatre, gospel, jazz, fashion and R & B.  An amazing array of events are scheduled for the next four weeks including seminars on economic development, special events for seniors and children, a health fair, an art tour and many, many more.  Check out the HARLEM WEEK website for the full schedule.

My favorite event last year was “Uptown Saturday Night”, a day long outdoor festival along West 135th Street with traditional and exotic foods, handmade crafts, local artists and vendors and a series of live performances featuring both national headliners and emerging talent.  Don’t miss this year’s event:

AUGUST 15th “UPTOWN SATURDAY NITE”     11:00 AM – 8:00 PM

West 135th St. from Malcolm X Blvd to St. Nicholas Avenue

N Boutique relocating to Lenox Avenue

By HarlemGal
As we and several other blogs reported awhile back, N Boutique is relocating in Harlem. They recently notified their customers in an email announcing their new location, which is 171 Lenox Avenue. Good news for shoppers who do not want to trek downtown for fun and chic clothing!N Boutique.jpeg
