Harlem has always been a sanctuary for the different. This continues today as yet another wave of LGBT immigrants join those already settled in Harlem. Harlem is a place with a rich history of advocating for freedoms of all kind for everyone.

By Icare4Harlem The Food Bank for New York City strives to end food poverty through a large network of food assistance programs. One of these, the Food Change, Inc., located at 252 West 116th Street offers several services including a Soup Kitchen, which provides dinner five days a week, Meal Delivery for the home bound elderly, disabled, and ill; a Family Meals Program, Breakfast, a Mini-Mart Style Food Pantry, and a Help Center for assistance with rent, mortgage, utility, and benefits concerns.
