No need to leave Harlem for NYE 2015,  celebrate at your favorite watering hole, restaurant or club in Harlem!  Last year almost every spot up and down Frederick Douglass Blvd (Harlem Restaurant Row), Lenox Ave and everything in-between held festive celebrations uptown.

Harlem Review – Harlem Food Bar – Fried Chicken

We stopped by HFB on Thursday to try the fried chicken after hearing the buzz about it and we were so happy we did.  Wow!.. and I’m not kidding.

The chicken was D-licious.  Moist, tasty and crispy but not greasy.  It was accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and green beans that snap when you bite into them.  Luckily, we managed to score one of the last servings.  I had it with my favorite happy hour drink there, the Watermelon Martini which I like on the rocks.

All I could say during my meal to my husband was, ” I’m in heaven”. So see you there next Thursday as I can’t wait to go back for more! =)

Harlem Condo Life Review – Boulevard Bistro (BLVD)

My husband, daughter and I recently ate dinner at Boulevard Bistro and enjoyed it a lot.  We had a booth table which was comfortable and the decor and service were great.  There was a large party next to us who also had a baby and they were served rather quickly as we were too.

My husband had the organic fried chicken which is served with smoked turkey collards and southern potato salad.  I had the turkey meatloaf topped with wild mushroom and visalia onion gravy, with parmesan mashed potatoes and vegetables.  We topped off our meal with the German cake which was also delicious.

We plan on going back soon for their brunch which we are hearing good things about.

If you haven’t tried BLVD Bistro in Harlem yet, we recommend it.  Four stars on Yelp and a cozy inviting interior easily help make BLVD a charming addition to Harlem.  Stay tuned for our part-two review on Boulevard Bistro.

On Tuesday evening Esquire Magazine will unveil the winners of their first annual American Food & Drink Awards at The Cecil in Harlem, NY.

THE CECIL will be named the ​2014 ​Best New Restaurant in America.

THE CECIL, created by New York businessman Richard Parsons and noted restaurateur and chef Alexander Smalls, is New York City’s first Afro-Asian-American brasserie.

Inspired by the travels, exploration and study of the African Diaspora its goal is to connect communities through food, comfort and hospitality.  Afro / Asian / American cuisine is a fusion of the best of what each of those distinct food cultures has to offer.

It traces the global migration of African-descendant people through the influence of African spices, textures and cooking techniques on traditional American, Latin and Asian dishes.
