An upcoming model in the highly competitive global modeling industry, Hali Kai makes New York City her home where she is represented by Wilhelmina Models. New on the scene, her multi-cultural look transforms her easily from African American to Italian, Spanish, Middle Eastern, Brazilian or pretty much whatever the advertisers are looking for. From a two page spread in Seventeen Magazine to the upcoming 2013 September issue of Vogue a metamorphosis occurs from squeaky clean girl next door to an elegant smoking hot young woman that all eyes are on when she enters the room. Originally from California, her family then moved to Indiana until she graduated from high School. Immediately after graduating she moved to New York to pursue her modeling career. Hali is Biracial, her father is of African American descent and her mother is Irish American. She was raised by her mother in a single household and her mom predicted from a very young age that Hali Kai was special and should model. When she continued growing taller and taller to 5’9″ and 36″ x 24″ 34″ measurements with an infectious smile and stunning features people began to notice. The midwest modeling agencies started showing interest, but she had her eyes set on bigger sites and through the help of her mother, friends, family, photographers and her natural ability in front of a camera, she landed in NYC with her first job at 17.
After her first year and many magazine
commercials from A/X to Seventeen Magazine and a laundry list of advertisements in NY, she relocated to Miami with her Wilhelmina agency to continue to build her profile for 6 months last winter. After that she returned back to New York where she continues to work non stop with Wilhelmina from New York to bookings all across the country. Living briefly in Harlem and also in Brooklyn she now lives in midtown NYC. Though when I spoke with her briefly the other day she mentioned that she would love to live back in Harlem.
We are happy to be friends with this upcoming dedicated beauty here at HarlemCondoLife, and admire her hard work ethic. The future looks bright for this shining young star. For more information on Hali Kai contact Wilhelmina Models – New York, Mainboard, Hali Kai Portfolio
Harlem socialite and fashionista joins the Real Housewives of Atlanta’s resident hair experts Derek J and Miss Lawrence an all-new talk show series premiering tonight at 11:30pm. The three-episode series will cover all things fashion, ranging from haute couture to celebs to global style trends.
Eli Lehrer, VP of Development and Original Programming for Bravo says: “Bravo viewers have loved watching Derek J and Miss Lawrence tell it like it is for years on our air, so when we saw the opportunity to pair them with Bevy Smith, whose fashion point of view we’ve always admired, we jumped at the opportunity.”
We love Derek and Lawrence because they don’t hold back and we can’t wait to see them dish with Bevy Smith!
