An exciting new culinary addition to the neighborhood –set to open this January ( http://www.mns.com/content/press_archives/2012/12/08/harlems-2280-fdb-welcomes-mediterranean-restaurant-savann/) –seems to have met a temporary delay. Last month we were thrilled when saw signs for the impending opening of Mediterranean restaurant Savann at 2280 FDB, but work looks to be suspended for the time being and a sign in the window alludes that it may be a construction permit issue.
Savann is an outpost of a popular Upper West Side Turkish restaurant that closed this past summer. A New York Times review said : “When Savann opened a few years ago, it was like a dream come true for Upper West Siders who had yearned for a simple, reasonably priced restaurant that served not-so-simple contemporary bistro food. Savann was just such a place, with ambitious yet delicious dishes like roasted pumpkin soup with olive oil, perfectly cooked wild mushroom risotto, and grilled duck breast with polenta…”
Cem Yildiz, Manager of Savann told mns.com in December: “The owner, Galip Ozbek, and I have lived in Harlem since 2007, and have enjoyed watching the local community flourish…We’re excited to offer Harlemites authentic Mediterranean cuisine.”
Hopefully they can work out these issues and open soon because we can’t wait!!

Carbs and portion sizes, it turns out, are not the problem. Foods that are revered by traditional weight loss programs, such as turkey, eggs, cauliflower, beans, and tomatoes, may be healthy in a vacuum, but when combined with each person's unique chemistry, they can cause a toxic reaction that triggers weight gain, premature aging, inflammation, and a host of health problems including constipation, migraines, joint pain, and depression.
Now this groundbreaking 20-day program helps readers finally unlock the mystery behind what does and does not work for their individual body. With detailed meal plans, recipes, and effective, personalized advice, you will discover how to:
-Lose a half a pound a day while enjoying generous servings of foods you love
-Identify your hidden trigger foods that are causing weight gain and inflammation, among other symptoms
-Build a personalized healthy foods list that promotes rapid weight loss
-Avoid feeling bloated, tired, or unhealthy again!
Feel better, look better, and be empowered by the knowledge of what truly works best for your body!

240 Manhattan Avenue
We have all been watching and waiting as we previously posted Construction Begins on 110th and Manhattan back in May of 2012, and now things seem to be taking off at a rapid speed. The name of this project is 240 Manhattan Avenue (by owner: 110 Manhattan Ave Equities LLC.)
This future 22 story condominium on 110th Street and Manhattan Avenue has had a lot of activity lately and the structure is now visible from behind the fence. After speaking with a gentleman on the listed telephone number at the construction site, he informed me that the building is still scheduled to be completed by January, 2014.
A rendering of the new condo
With this prime location on West 110th and Manhattan Ave., 240 Manhattan Avenue will provide views of both Central Park and Morningside Park. It is located just one block away from Frederick Douglass Boulevard Harlem’s Restaurant Row. There is also a subway entrance on the block as well as Central Market across the street, a Dry Cleaners, Cafe Amrita and many other conveniences all within an arms reach.
Harlem Condo Life will continue to watch, wait and see if they reach their expected completion date of January, 2014.
