Broiled Giant Spicy Prawns, Yam Flapjack, Piri Piri Sauce.

The highly anticipated Cecil opens today with a frenzy of social media flying in as fast as they possibly can just to experience what all the buzz is about.  We here at Harlem Condo Life are among the enthusiastic media, and look forward to our first time experience with Cecil.  We have high hopes  for this old meets  new establishment and newest addition to Harlem Restaurant Row.  They have our attention with small plates such as “Broiled Giant Spicy Prawns, Yam Flapjack, with Piri Piri Sauce” (above ) and “Spicy Crispy Ginger Squid with Okra and Sweet Chili Peanut Sauce.”  Or a shared bowl for two of Afro / Asian / American Gumbo (Smoked Turkey, Chinese Chicken Sausage, Gulf Shrimp, and Crabmeat)

Take a peek at Cecil’s menu (below) with a scrumptious assortment by – Chefs Alexander Smalls – Restauranteur, and Joseph “JJ” Johnson – Chef de Cuisine.

The Cecil MENU.  Here is a photo they sent us of their sticky buns.  I don’t know about dinner, but I am ready for these sticky buns right now!  They also were recently written up in the Huffington Post, The Hollywood Reporter and The Wall Street Journal.  Both The Cecil and Minton’s were mentioned in Huff Post BLACK VOICES and one dish in particular that stood out to us was the “Black Benne Seed Ahi Tuna.”  Looks delicious.

So let’s get our forks and knives ready, and go experience the new CECIL together.  I’m up for the adventure and ready to dig in.  See you all there!

It won’t be long now.  Good things come to those who wait.  The highly anticipated Cedric Bistro which resides in the old “Mojo” space on 119th Street and St. Nicholas is barreling along with construction for a summer grand opening.  An inside source at Cedric tells us that it could be as soon as early next month.  See my previous post

Originally it was scheduled to open in June but like everything else around here from condominiums to restaurants, construction delays are pushing things back.  Not too much longer now though.
We will be following their progress closely and bringing you exclusive first hand information as it develops.
Stay tuned.

HarlemGuy reported a couple weeks back about Cedric Restaurant coming to Harlem.  Cedric Lecendre, a Harlem resident and Bilboquet’s general manager and the nephew of its owner, Philippe Delgrange, has signed a lease for Cedric which will open within a month.  Stopping by there last Friday I spoke briefly with Cedric and one of the employees.  This will be a French Bistro and if reputation prevails the food will be good.  I can say they are making great progress.  As soon as I get an exact date I will share what I’ve learned.  I look forward to reviewing Cedrics as soon as it opens.

This is a perfect time of the year to open – just in time for Summer dining. Cedric’s is located at 185 Saint Nicholas Ave at 119th St. where the old Mojos was (see prior review).  This will be nice for the mini 119th street strip of restaurant/bars that includes Moca, Billie’s Black and directly next door the new Cedric Restaurant.

Stay tuned for news on the latest progress.

img_37563Thanks to one of HarlemCondoLife’s readers, they have shared with us the final video piece that was being filmed a few weeks back at Mojo, Harlem’s hip restaurant located at 119th Street and St. Nicholas. Check out the video below. The whole place looks red hot in the video and it turns out it is publicizing a good cause – recognizing small business!  A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR READER FOR PROVIDING THE VIDEO!
