Most of Harlem was spared from the worst of Hurricane Sandy, but still there was evidence of the effects here. Happily many local businesses and restaurants were open and people were out in droves ready to support them.
Central Park was still closed and even from the perimeter, it was obvious many trees were felled. Please be careful walking on that side.

Melbas' Chicken and Waffles
by HarlemHouse Great Italian Restaurant opened 2 months ago in the hood: Gran Piatto d’Oro. The atmoshpere is relaxing and inviting, the service is top notch, and most importantly, the food is delicious! It is not as inexpensive as you would hope it to be, which is the only bad thing I can say about it.
