About Marti Newland
Soprano Marti Newland is a Ph.D. candidate in Music at Columbia University, currently performing with Melodeon, an early American music chamber ensemble. Marti has performed in recitals and oratorios throughout the United States and Europe. She has sung in music festivals, including the Aspen Music Festival Opera Theater Center and Centro Studi Italiani in Urbania, Italy. While she has performed in the operas Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Turn of the Screw, Le Nozze di Figaro, La Boheme, and Madame Butterfly, Marti specializes in African American art music. www.martinewland.com
