With so many videos and comments the past couple of weeks about the Harlem Shake, I was wondering if any of these videos with millions of views on Youtube are making any money?

I came across this article today by Victor Luckerson, a reporter-producer for Time.com covering business and money, who writes a clear explanation about the copyright and who is getting what from the Harlem Shake frenzy.  The exact amount is unknown at this time but will most likely take the lead over last years “Gangnam Style, viral sensation that earned Korean pop star Psy and his handlers a reported $870.000 from YouTube as revenue.”

Mainly he writes  “Baauer and his label get some of the ad revenue, as does Youtube.  The people shooting the videos get no money because they are using copyrighted content.”

ITunes sales have sky rocketed with Baauer’s Harlem Shake single, topping the iTunes charts and recently debuted at No. 3 in the UK singles charts.
