Harlem has always been a sanctuary for the different. This continues today as yet another wave of LGBT immigrants join those already settled in Harlem. Harlem is a place with a rich history of advocating for freedoms of all kind for everyone. Based on a principle stated simply and forcefully by Martin Luther King Jr. A phrase worth remembering as we live through the United States Supreme Court grappling with the momentous question of whether gay and lesbian couples have a constitutional right to marry.
