It is equally if not better than Nina’s version but this rendition adds such a darkness and extra edgy realness that haunts your awareness.

This was the most compelling version of “Strange Fruit” (besides Billie’s) – I think it perfectly addresses the feeling of despair so many of us have after the Zimmerman verdict.
On one of the news shows yesterday, a law professor said something that really stuck with me. She said that the law might have worked as it was supposed to, but justice was not achieved, and that’s what needs to be addressed.
