As part of its Birthday Tribute to talented Jazz musicians, La Maison dArt Gallery & Elise Woods Quartet is pleased to pay tribute to the famous:Horace Silver, Jazz Pianist and Composer Sept. 2, 1928- June 18, 2014.

Horace Silver would have been 86 years-old on Sept. 2.

Location: La Maison dArt Gallery 259 West 132nd St., NY Between Adam Clayton Powell & Frederick Douglass Blvd.

Musicians:Steve Williams, Drums; James Weidman , Piano; Harvie S, Bass; Elise Wood, Flutes.

The event will include a short documentary about the Great Horace Silver.

Horace Silver is known for his distinctive playing style and pioneering compositional contributions to hard bop.

He was influenced by a wide range of musical styles, notably gospel music, African music, and Latin American music, and sometimes ventured into the soul jazz genre.
