Summit on the Black Arts Movement starts this week at the Dwyer

This Tuesday, November 9th at 7 pm, the Dwyer Cultural Center presents the first of three events in their “Black Arts Movement Summit” series.  Tuesday’s event focuses on theater and features a dialogue with poet-playwright-activist Amiri Baraka, a legendary figure in the Movement, and a dynamic performance by next-generation playwright and Obie Award-winning actor Daniel Beaty.   Tickets start at $7 – call (212) 222-3060 to check availability.  The series continues on Tuesday, November 30th with a progam on Visual Arts.  Check the Dwyer website for details: www.dwyercc.org.

The Dwyer Cultural Center is located at  258 St. Nicholas Avenue; the entrance is on 123rd Street between St. Nicholas Avenue and Frederick Douglass Boulevard.  The Dwyer is a  partnership between the International Communications Association and  Community Works and is Co-Directed by Voza Rivers and Barbara Horowitz.
