Vinateria Coming Along In Harlem

More improvements seem to be happening at the site of the new wine bar/kitchen Vinateria on 119th and Frederick Douglass Boulevard. Last week crews were spotted painting the building front black.

The proprietor, Mrs. Yvette Leeper-Bueno teamed up with Gabriela and Gustavo Lopez who worked at downtown hotspots Son Cubano, Boqueria, Lupa and Wallse, amongst others.  Gustavo Lopez will be developing Vinateria’s menu and daily specials, and Gabriela Davogustto will be developing their wine and beverage program.  Apparently they looked for a year and a half for the right space in Harlem, and had a few different places under negotiation that fell through, including underneath the Gateway Towers. In this address, they have now expanded their concept from just a winebar to a full food and wine offerings with an Italian/global influence.

Their Facebook has been up since summertime but no new info. Other wine- oriented places like Nectar and Auberge Laurent haven’t fared so well in this area but perhaps now is the time. We can’t wait for this to open!

  1. I also miss Nectar. I agree though that I think the timing is right now for Vinateria. Also keep in mind this will be a Wine Bar + Italian/Global Full Restaurant menu, not just a wine bar with side dishes.

I had an enthusiastic exchange the other day with Gabriella who is part of the Vinateria team. Sounds like this new establishment on “restaurant row” will have some great things for us all to look forward to! Stay tuned…

  2. I think Nectar was great too maybe just a little ahead of itself. If Vinateria are going full food now Italian/Global cuisine they should do well. Even better if they are going to add outdoor seating?
