Lido Italian Restaurant – Happiness in Harlem

“Happiness in Harlem” as written on Lido’s website is an honest statement for Italian Food lovers.  We have dined here many times since they have opened and consistently the food has been great.  After taking friends their the other night  we took a few photos of our dinner that we wanted to share and spoke with Susannah Koteen, the owner of Lido.  We complimented Susannah that we appreciate the welcoming vibe and reliable service that you can always  expect when visiting Lido.  They have loyal diners who return regularly no doubt because of the service and their food.

A born and raised Harlemite friend who recently just moved out of the area, insisted while visiting last week that we eat at Lido as he missed their cuisine. I hadn’t been in several months and was happy to go.

For the appetizers we had Tomato, Basil, and Fresh Mozzarella, Aged Prosciutto di Parma, and an assortment of other starters which are easily shareable.

For dinner we had the Baked Halibut, Chamoula Marinade, Red Pepper Rouille over Asparagus, Parmesan, Basil Risotto (mouthwatering good!), the Ricotta Ravioli, Charred Eggplant, with Orange Mint and Almonds, and the special of the day Under a Brick Chicken with Garlic Mashed Potatoes.  Very flavorful and filling.  We would also recommend their Grass-fed Organic Strip Steak or the Gnocchi with Truffle Butter and Sage which is rich and cooked just to the right texture.

For desert we sampled a couple things but I recommend the Sunday below if you really want to treat yourself….

Make sure to ask for their daily specials.  I try and have something new each time if I can resist ordering the Halibut with Risotto but I usually cave in and get the Halibut.  It’s just one of those perfect meals that have you coming back for more.

They have a very lively and popular bar scene as well, for those who just want to swing by for a drink and appetizer with a friend or to meet new friends. Lido’s also host many events throughout the year from viewing political debates, gayborhood mixers for LGBT community, and featured wine dinners, which they will be having again real soon in the near future.
