Sylvia’s: The Queen is King

By HarlemGuy

I order in quite a bit.  And once I land a favorite it’s hard to turn away.  My new favorite is Sylvia’s.

Simply stated their service and food is simply the best I have encountered anywhere, and certainly in Harlem.   From a service perspective they are courteous, prompt and professionals.  From a food perspective the prices and portions are great.  Most importantly, the food is absolutely D E L I C I O U S.  There’s a combination of spices in the fried chicken and the ribs that have me craving a dinner right now.

  1. Sylvia’s & Amy Ruth’s are both excellent. But don’t forget about Miss Mamie’s Spoonbread Too on 110th. Also very delicious! (Spoonbread has another location on Lenox at 138ths st.)

  2. Oh Lord Have Mercy..you sure????Sylvia’s really…I think Amy Ruth’s is a bit better..but I don’t care I still miss the old Harlem..and my holes in the walls…PAN PAN, M&G’s..what the heck happened to Charles Southern…umm..im crying…Harlem Gone..Upper Manhattan is setting in..

  3. We love Amy Ruth’s too. There’s much to love in Harlem. And we have tons of love to share and spread. That’s what the world need’s now, is love sweet love. And our other favorite, Love’s in need of love today. Sorry about the diverstion, can’t help ourselves. Music is the message. Now back to the post, please see our review of Amy Ruth’s Thanks for reading, writing and loving. http://harlemcondolife.com/2008/11/22/amy-ruths/

  4. As a transplanted son of the South I have to give the nod to Amy Ruth’s over Sylvia’s as far as authentic soul food. And the best collards are at Zoma, the Ethiopian place at 113th and FDB.
