On Thursday, May 20th, at the Apollo Theatre, the Jazz Foundation of America presents the 9th Annual “A Great Night in Harlem” concert to benefit JFA’s Jazz Musicians’ Emergency Fund. The Fund provides and maintains homes and emergency support for elder jazz and blues musicians in crisis. The theme is “A History of the Music”… from Africa to Gospel to 1930’s big band and beyond…and performers include Miss Roberta Flack, Lou Reed, Jimmy Heath, Little Jimmy Scott and scads of other great artists, including those helped by the JFA. Hosts are Michael Imperioli, Chevy Chase, Danny Glover and David Johansen. Great entertainment for a great cause.
