Good Senegalese Food in Harlem

Africa Kine Restaurant

By Icare4Harlem

This unassuming eatery, located at 256 W. 116th St. between 7th and 8th Avenues, might prompt one to wonder, “Is there really a restaurant in there?” Once you’ve crossed the threshold and wind up the staircase you enter Africa Kine Restaurant, a room filled with warmth, small gatherings, and a menu of traditional Senegalese entrees. If you’re not familiar with the Thiebu Djeun, Lamb Mafe, Debe, or any other item, don’t fret, it’s a great opportunity to venture into a new cuisine. I was in the mood for fish and was thrilled to have a choice of fried, grilled or baked Poisson.  The portions were plentiful and reasonably priced. Sorrel and ginger juices complemented the beverage list. As with any traditionally prepared food, make sure you allow ample time to enjoy your meal.  Harlemcondolife recommends Africa Kine!
