YES, CHEF Marcus Samuelsson’s new memoir is the centerpiece of the Harlem Community Day Celebration

The world famous chef  and Harlem resident Marcus Samuelsson will host a Harlem Community Day on Monday, June 25th in support of his forthcoming memoir, Yes, Chef.  In association with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, the neighborhood-focused day will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Marcus Garvey Park at the Richard Rodgers Amphitheater (123rd Street and Mount Morris Park West) and is free to attend.

Marcus Samuelsson who travels the globe regularly is constantly involved with an activity or new event here in Harlem.  His critically acclaimed Red Rooster and newest success Ginny’s Supper Club (in which we recently raved about last weeks Jimmy Scott appearance) continue to enrich our community.  We never expect to run into Marcus himself at these events yet it seems miraculously he is always there with a smile to greet you!  This is why it does not surprise us that he has chosen Harlem to celebrate with him a day before his national release of his well anticipated Memoir.

YES, CHEF, which will be published on June 26th, describes Marcus’ love for Harlem and his gratitude towards this supportive community.  In recognition of this Marcus has chosen to launch Yes, Chef at Marcus Garvey Park a day before the book’s national release.  He will introduce the book with a fun-filled roster of activities and offerings that celebrate the residents, organizers and businesses of the neighborhood.

  1. Thank you for your comments. I believe Monday the 25th was chosen because it is the day before his official book launch. This is also going to be a fun celebration for the whole family.

  2. Cool I just read something about this memoir and it looks amazing. why is the MGP Harlem Community event happening on a Monday instead of a Sunday though……

  3. Big fan of Samuelsson and Red Rooster restaurant. Thanks for the information. My wife and I will be there.
